Lululemon Middle East Yoga Dubai World Mental Health Day

How lululemon is promoting mental health through movement

Celebrating World Mental Health Day with a community-focused event in Dubai

In the lead-up to World Mental Health Day in Dubai, lululemon Middle East is set to host its largest community gathering on 5th October at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai. As part of the brand’s global ‘Together We Grow’ initiative, the event will bring together 2,000 participants to celebrate and promote mental and physical wellbeing. Through movement, mindful activities, and community connection, lululemon Middle East is addressing the importance of mental health in today’s fast-paced world.

This event marks a significant step towards improving mental wellbeing in Dubai, especially considering recent findings from a study conducted by Majid Al Futtaim on behalf of lululemon Middle East. The research revealed that only 32% of UAE residents rate their overall wellbeing as high, while a majority report moderate to low levels. Furthermore, 75% of respondents believe society judges those with low mental wellbeing, highlighting a pressing need for community-driven support.

The ‘Together We Grow’ event is designed to address these challenges by offering activities that encourage participants to connect, move, and engage in meaningful conversations about mental health. Among the key activities are a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout and a calming yoga session, both aimed at showing the strong connection between physical activity and mental wellbeing – something 86% of survey respondents acknowledged.

Aside from fitness sessions, attendees can also join wellbeing discussions led by local fitness trainers and advocates. These conversations will focus on the importance of maintaining both physical and mental health, with particular attention given to how movement and exercise can positively impact mental wellbeing.

Fahed Ghanim, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Lifestyle, which operates lululemon in the Middle East, emphasised the role of community in fostering better mental health. “Our study found that 84% of UAE residents believe support networks—whether friends, family, or community groups—are crucial for their social wellbeing,” he said. “As a brand rooted in community and movement, lululemon is proud to create spaces where people can connect, move together, and engage in meaningful conversations about wellbeing.”

In addition to fitness and discussion sessions, the event will feature fitness challenges and recovery stations, including ice baths and workshops focused on goal-setting and finding purpose. All these elements aim to create a supportive environment that encourages people to take small but meaningful steps towards better mental health.

World Mental Health Day in Dubai is not just about physical exercise; it’s about creating spaces where individuals can form connections with like-minded people. David Webb, a lululemon Ambassador and Wellbeing and Performance Coach, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Together we grow is about creating a space where mindful movement and community come together to strengthen the mind, body, and spirit.”

Lululemon’s ‘Together We Grow’ events will also be held across several other Middle Eastern cities, including Riyadh, Doha, and Kuwait City, bringing together a total of 4,000 participants across the region. These gatherings aim to spread awareness about mental wellbeing and to highlight the importance of having supportive communities, especially around significant days like World Mental Health Day.
