Six and Six Private Islands has announced plans to develop six private island resorts in The Maldives over a six-year period, with the first two properties scheduled to open in 2026. Established in 2024, the hospitality group is positioning each island as an independently designed destination, unified by a shared operational framework. The initial openings will take place in the South Malé Atoll, within speedboat distance of Velana International Airport.
A phased approach to private island development

The long-term development plan behind Six and Six Private Islands follows a phased rollout, with one island introduced per year. This approach allows each resort to be planned, built and operated as a standalone destination rather than part of a replicated template. Architectural design, spatial planning and cultural programming are shaped individually for each site, while core operational systems are shared across the portfolio.
By limiting the pace of expansion, Six and Six Private Islands aims to align construction timelines, staffing and environmental considerations with the specific conditions of each island. This structure also allows for incremental portfolio growth rather than simultaneous multi-island delivery.
The first two island openings

The first resort to open under the Six and Six Private Islands portfolio will be Rah Gili Maldives, scheduled for February 2026. Located within a protected dolphin sanctuary in the South Malé Atoll, the island will feature 74 villas, including 37 overwater accommodations. Communal areas are designed to support cultural and social programming alongside accommodation, positioning the resort as a mid-scale opening within the group.
Later in 2026, Don Maaga Maldives will follow as the second resort and flagship property within Six and Six Private Islands. Accommodation will include TERRA∞ beachfront villas and AETHR∞ overwater villas, some exceeding 1,500 square metres. Select villas incorporate both freshwater and saltwater pools, internal courtyards and private outdoor zones. The island will also introduce HIRIGAA, an invitation-only private island designed for full-island use.
Sustainability and long-term operations
Across the portfolio, Six and Six Private Islands is pursuing EarthCheck certification for each resort. Development plans include renewable energy integration, desalination systems with on-island bottling, the elimination of single-use plastics and marine conservation initiatives. Community partnerships and guest education form part of daily operations rather than standalone programmes, reinforcing operational consistency across the islands.
With its first two openings scheduled for 2026, Six and Six Private Islands enters the Maldivian hospitality landscape through a staged, site-specific development strategy, with further island announcements expected as construction progresses.
