Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra

Mandarin Oriental to open a resort in Mallorca this spring

The property will open in Calvià with sea-facing accommodation and six dining concepts

Mandarin Oriental has announced plans to open its first hotel in Mallorca with the launch of Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra in spring 2026. The resort is located on the Punta Negra headland in Calvià, overlooking the Mediterranean and within close reach of Puerto Portals. The opening marks the brand’s entry into the Balearic Islands and adds Mallorca to Mandarin Oriental’s European portfolio.

A coastal setting in Calvià

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra Calvia

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra is positioned on one of Mallorca’s established coastal landmarks, surrounded by Aleppo pines and direct access to two small coves. The site looks out towards the open sea, while remaining a short drive from Puerto Portals marina and Palma. The location places the resort within a quieter stretch of coastline while maintaining proximity to existing dining, shopping, and sailing hubs.

The property is scheduled to welcome its first guests in spring 2026, aligning with the start of Mallorca’s high travel season. According to Mandarin Oriental, the resort has been designed to operate as a low-density retreat, prioritising privacy and uninterrupted sea views across the site.

Design informed by local materials

The interiors at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra draw on Mallorcan craftsmanship and natural materials. Hand-placed stonework appears throughout the property, paired with soft neutral tones and a layout that maximises daylight. Rooms and public spaces are designed to frame the surrounding landscape, with gardens and terraces integrated into the overall plan.

The resort will offer 131 rooms and suites in total. This includes 26 suites, nine casitas, nineteen rooms and suites with plunge pools, and three rooftop suites with private pools. Each category is designed to provide varying levels of seclusion, with several units positioned to face directly onto the sea.

Art forms part of the interior concept, with works by local and international artists displayed in guest areas and outdoor spaces. Sculptural installations are incorporated into the gardens, creating open-air exhibition areas that change with the light throughout the day.

Dining concepts across the resort

Dining is positioned as a central element of the Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra experience, with six venues planned across the property. Each restaurant or bar operates with a distinct focus, drawing on both international and regional influences.

Matsuhisa Mallorca will bring the established Nikkei dining concept by Nobu Matsuhisa to the island, serving Japanese and Peruvian influenced dishes with views across the Mediterranean. Leña, created by Dani García, is a contemporary steakhouse centred on open-fire cooking and locally sourced produce.

Additional venues include Jacinta, offering Mexican cuisine, and Leppoc, an all-day restaurant focused on Mediterranean and Levantine dishes using Spanish and Balearic ingredients. Sobretaula is designed as an alfresco tapas terrace, while Aubara operates as a poolside restaurant and bar serving lighter daytime menus. The culinary programme is overseen by executive chef Sergio De La Plata, who will prioritise ingredient origin, seasonality, and regional sourcing.

Spa and wellness facilities

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra Spa

Wellness facilities at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra include a dedicated spa with nine treatment rooms, including suites for couples. Treatments draw on both Mediterranean and Oriental practices, with signature experiences incorporating local herbs and rituals.

The spa is supported by a relaxation lounge, heat and water facilities, and hydro-massage pools. Additional amenities include steam rooms, cold plunges, aromatherapy showers, and a fully equipped fitness centre.

Outdoor leisure facilities consist of two adult pools and a separate children’s pool, all positioned to face the sea. An indoor pool provides year-round swimming, particularly outside the summer season.
