Singapore’s first all-villa sanctuary opens on Sentosa

An elegant tropical retreat redefines island luxury just minutes from the city

Hidden within 100,000 square metres of lush tropical greenery on Sentosa Island, the newly opened Raffles Sentosa Singapore presents a refreshing interpretation of luxury. Launched on March 1, this exceptional retreat thoughtfully blends natural beauty with the legendary service that has defined the Raffles brand since its Singapore origins in 1887.

Just a 15-minute drive from Singapore’s Central Business District, the Raffles Sentosa Singapore offers a serene escape while maintaining convenient access to the city’s attractions. Perched atop a hill on Bukit Manis Road, the property was meticulously designed by renowned studio Yabu Pushelberg, known for their work with some of the world’s most prestigious hotels.

A natural sanctuary of private luxury

Unlike the colonial grandeur of the original Raffles Hotel, this new Sentosa property embraces harmony with nature. The resort immediately immerses guests in the peaceful landscape of Sentosa Island, with the soothing sea breeze from the South China Sea providing a constant reminder of its idyllic setting.

Raffles Sentosa Singapore comprises 62 contemporary villas, each featuring its own private pool and outdoor terrace. These accommodations range from the entry-level 250 sqm one-bedroom villa to the opulent 650 sqm four-bedroom royal villa, ideal for larger groups or families seeking expansive privacy. The design seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors framing verdant surroundings.

Local artist Andre Wee has contributed botanical murals to the one-bedroom villas, bringing the beauty of nature indoors, while the royal villa features an expressive floral tapestry that connects guests to the tropical environment.

Signature service and exceptional facilities

The Raffles experience begins at the porte-cochere, where guests are welcomed by a grand fountain featuring an avant-garde horse sculpture symbolising strength and new beginnings. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted with a signature Sentosa Sling, the resort’s unique take on the legendary Singapore Sling, crafted with upcycled watermelon skin and lemon leaves grown in the resort’s gardens. Throughout their stay, guests enjoy the attentive Raffles butler service, known for its personalised attention to detail. Transportation around the vast property is provided via Raffles buggy, ensuring comfort even when venturing beyond one’s villa.

Beyond their private villa pools, guests can unwind at the Raffles Sentosa Singapore’s expansive 30m main pool, complete with deck chairs and cabanas overlooking lush greenery. For events, the property offers two state-of-the-art ballrooms, the largest accommodating up to 400 guests. These spaces feature colour-changing crystal chandeliers inspired by Singapore’s national flower, the Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim orchid.

Wellness with historical significance

A highlight of the Raffles Sentosa Singapore is its spa, housed within a beautifully transformed heritage landmark building that previously served as a 1930s barrack. Recognised with the Urban Redevelopment Authority Architectural Heritage Award, the spa offers a holistic approach to well-being through 13 treatment rooms, a fitness centre, a 22m lap pool, steam rooms, and an outdoor whirlpool.

The wellness programmes provide personalised journeys structured around five pillars: Movement, Nourishment, Restorative Wellness, and Connection. Newly-appointed well-being butlers assist guests in curating their ideal wellness experience. Resort guests also enjoy preferential green fees at the nearby Sentosa Golf Club.

Diverse culinary experiences

Raffles Sentosa Singapore features five exceptional restaurants and bar concepts that position it as a dining destination in its own right. Empire Grill serves modern Italian cuisine led by cluster director of culinary, chef Bjoern Alexander, while Royal China offers refined Cantonese dishes by executive Chinese chef Ling Heng Yao. For lovers of Japanese cuisine, Iyasaka by Hashida showcases an exquisite omakase experience by renowned chef Kenjiro ‘Hatch’ Hashida.

The elegant Raffles Room serves the legendary Raffles Afternoon Tea, and the Chairman’s Room provides an intimate speakeasy-style lounge with a curated selection of fine wines, whiskies, and Champagnes. Guests can also enjoy in-villa dining, alfresco experiences in the lush gardens, or secluded dining arrangements on Tanjong Beach, which is directly accessible from the resort.
