Phoebe Philo has made her long-awaited return to the fashion industry with the launch of her self-titled label, marking a pivotal moment in her career. Backed by LVMH yet majority-owned by Philo herself, the brand debuted in October 2023 and represents her first independent venture. Rooted in London, it allows the designer to set her own direction while reconnecting with her loyal following.
Her departure from Céline in 2017 left a notable gap in the industry, but the launch of Phoebe Philo reasserts her presence with a renewed sense of purpose. Speaking of her vision, she emphasised the importance of “governing and experimenting” on her own terms, a sentiment that underlines the label’s commitment to autonomy and authenticity.
A focus on permanence and sustainability

The brand takes a clear stance against overconsumption by producing limited runs of wardrobe staples designed to endure. Philo’s collections lean into permanence, prioritising timeless forms over fleeting trends. Production is centred in Italy, with items currently available for delivery across the UK, Europe, and the United States.
Sustainability is more than a marketing phrase for the designer. Materials and processes reflect an effort to create clothing that lasts, while encouraging mindful consumption. This ethos aligns with the wider shift in luxury fashion towards long-term value and reduced environmental impact.
Sculptural, functional, and distinctive design

Philo’s creative language continues to balance refinement with utility, designed for women “on the move”. Her collections embrace oversize proportions and sculptural silhouettes, often created through layered textures and subtle structural details. Rounded shoulders on tuxedo jackets, floor-grazing trousers with back zips, and long jersey skirts underpinned by neoprene linings show her careful attention to form.
Accessories and footwear further the brand’s practicality-meets-luxury approach. From tapestry shoppers and shearling coats to square-front mules and flat suede boots, every detail reflects her reputation for marrying style with function. The designs avoid overt logos, relying instead on tailoring and detail to make their statement, reinforcing Philo’s place in the conversation on quiet luxury.
Collections planned through 2025

Instead of seasonal collections, Phoebe Philo will release “edits”, each spanning a defined period. The debut, running from October 2023 to December 2024, set the foundation. Collection B is expected between January and June 2025, followed by Collection C from July to December 2025. The latter was previewed earlier this year in London through a look book and virtual showroom, showcasing intricate pieces designed with Philo’s signature mix of strength and subtlety.
Distribution will remain selective, available online through phoebephilo.com, as well as through dedicated shops-in-shop at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann in Paris, Dover Street Market in London, and most recently, Harvey Nichols Dubai.
A career defined by influence

Born in Paris and educated at Central Saint Martins, Philo began her career under Stella McCartney at Chloé before succeeding her as creative director in 2001. Later, at Céline, she redefined modern womenswear with her minimalist aesthetic and pragmatic approach, drawing an international community of “Philophiles”. Her return has reignited interest among long-time admirers and the wider fashion press.
Phoebe Philo’s career has been recognised with multiple British Fashion Awards, an OBE, and the International Award at the CFDA Fashion Awards. With her new label, she brings this history of influence into a future that places independence, permanence, and creative clarity at its core.
