Shanghai Me to open on Mayfair’s legendary rooftop

London Hilton on Park Lane's historic 28th floor welcomes the acclaimed dining concept from Dubai

This July marks a significant moment for London’s dining scene as Shanghai Me London prepares to debut on the rooftop of the London Hilton on Park Lane. The highly anticipated opening represents the renowned restaurant’s first venture into the UK market, bringing its celebrated Pan-Asian concept to one of Mayfair’s most coveted locations. With panoramic views stretching from Buckingham Palace gardens to Hyde Park and the Thames, Shanghai Me London promises to redefine rooftop dining in the capital.

The restaurant’s arrival follows successful launches in Dubai and Doha, with Monaco set to welcome the concept soon. Shanghai Me London will occupy the highest dining position in Mayfair, transforming the iconic rooftop space that has captivated guests for six decades into a sophisticated Asian dining destination.

A tribute to 1930s Shanghai glamour

Shanghai Me London

The interiors of Shanghai Me London pay homage to the golden era of 1930s Shanghai, seamlessly blending Art Deco glamour with contemporary design elements. The concept celebrates Chinese sophistication whilst honouring Japanese culinary precision, creating an atmosphere where timeless elegance meets modern indulgence. The restaurant’s design philosophy extends beyond aesthetics, creating an immersive environment that transports diners to a bygone era of cultural fusion and refinement.

The space will accommodate 120 guests across thoughtfully designed dining areas, including two opulent private dining rooms that offer uninterrupted views of central London. These exclusive spaces provide the perfect setting for intimate celebrations and business gatherings, allowing guests to enjoy the restaurant’s signature experience in complete privacy.

Culinary excellence from renowned chefs

The culinary vision behind Shanghai Me London comes from the expertise of chef Izu Ani, whose influence has shaped Dubai’s dining landscape through acclaimed concepts including GAIA and La Maison Ani. Working alongside chef Yukitaka Kitade, who serves as Shanghai Me’s global culinary ambassador after perfecting his craft across Asia, the duo brings a shared philosophy to Pan-Asian cuisine that emphasises storytelling through flavours and textures.

Their approach to dining transcends traditional boundaries, drawing inspiration from diverse Asian culinary traditions spanning China, Japan, and Vietnam. The menu showcases premium ingredients, meticulous presentation, and innovative techniques that celebrate both tradition and modern interpretation. Standout dishes include yellowtail carpaccio with black truffle, Cantonese style roast duck with foie gras and caviar, spicy bluefin tuna oshizushi, and braised beef short rib Shanghai style.
