Parisian elegance and Dubai’s skyline at Bar Des Prés
Originally established in Paris in 2016, Bar Des Prés began as a discreet gem in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Its success in France paved the way for its expansion to Dubai, where it occupies a stunning dining space offering panoramic views of the city’s skyline. The award-winning design studio Lázaro Rosa-Violán has maintained the restaurant’s iconic elements, such as mustard-coloured marble tables and vibrant peacock-embroidered fabrics. The interior design reflects an elegant blend of Parisian charm and East Asian influences, characterised by sinuous lines and a rich tapestry of colours.

At the heart of Bar Des Prés Dubai is the sushi counter, adorned with a striking light installation made from rough silk, paying homage to the heritage of Japanese silk-making. This exclusive counter seats ten guests, offering an intimate and interactive dining experience as chefs artfully prepare California rolls, maki & soya maki, and sashimi in front of guests. This immersive experience not only enhances the dining atmosphere but also allows you to appreciate the precision and artistry involved in Japanese culinary traditions.
A culinary fusion of French and Japanese flavours
The menu at Bar Des Prés showcases a seamless blend of Lignac’s French culinary mastery with Japanese creativity. Diners can expect an array of exceptional seasonal dishes that highlight the best of both culinary worlds. Signature offerings include citrus-marinated scallops served with pickled radish and kumquat, A4 wagyu carpaccio drizzled with wasabi ponzu, and a crunchy crab and avocado galette. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted to honour traditional techniques while showcasing the freshness of seasonal ingredients.

As diners transition to dessert, they will be treated to elaborate creations that reflect Lignac’s training as a master pastry chef. Delicacies such as a delicate vanilla mille-feuille with pecan nut praline and a towering stack of profiteroles served with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with rich chocolate sauce promise to delight the senses. For a lighter option, the airy matcha chiffon cake provides a refreshing end to the meal, blending classic French patisserie with a Japanese twist.
Thoughtfully curated wine and cocktail experience
An extensive wine list of over 300 selections complements the culinary offerings at Bar Des Prés, highlighting a variety of French wines that celebrate Cyril’s heritage. The thoughtfully curated wine programme allows diners to explore various regions and styles, ensuring a perfect pairing with each dish. Additionally, the cocktail menu draws inspiration from both French and East Asian traditions, featuring unique concoctions like the Tokyo Garden, Wasabi Martini, and the refreshing Margarithai, which highlights the restaurant’s innovative approach to mixology.

With its doors set to open on 7 December 2024, Bar Des Prés Dubai aims to provide an exceptional dining experience filled with elegance and sophistication. Open from noon until late, the restaurant caters to various occasions, whether it’s leisurely lunches, lavish dinners, or vibrant social gatherings. The lounge will feature intimate seating arrangements, lively bar areas, and a rich colour palette that evokes the aesthetic of a traditional French bar à vins. This inviting atmosphere aims to make it the perfect spot for pre-dinner cocktails or nightcaps accompanied by a DJ from 9pm onwards.
