A standout offering is the four-hands dinner collaboration between Essenza and Tasca by José Avillez. From 17 to 19 July, chef José Barroso from the Michelin-starred Tasca at Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai joins Essenza’s head chef Davide Borin for an exclusive dining experience. The menu combines Portuguese and Italian techniques, featuring dishes like cod cakes, wagyu tartare and pasta made with locally sourced Omani seafood.
The collaboration demonstrates how Mandarin Oriental Muscat leverages its group connections to bring internationally recognised culinary talent to Oman. The three-night event is priced at OMR 38 (AED 380) per person and includes signature desserts from both culinary traditions.
Essenza has also updated its regular à la carte menu to feature regional Italian dishes with local influences. The restaurant’s new offerings include fresh Omani lobster prepared as Astice del Marinaio and Pizza del Casaro with truffle honey and gorgonzola.

The spa’s summer programme emphasises Oman’s heritage through the Frankincense Restoration ritual. This treatment incorporates frankincense, a historically significant Omani export, alongside traditional elements like Sidr leaf scrubs and rose water. The 90-minute experience includes herbal tea, foot cleansing, full-body massage and sound healing elements.
Contemporary spa offerings include Balinese massage and skincare treatments featuring Biologique Recherche products. The spa has created specific treatments for summer conditions, including sun cooling and hydrating treatments designed for the local climate.
Wellness experiences are available from Sunday to Thursday between 12pm and 3pm until 30 September, making them accessible during cooler parts of the day when outdoor activities might be less comfortable.
Extending the Mandarin Oriental Muscat experience
The hotel’s “One More Summer Night” offer provides a complimentary third night for guests booking two-night stays. This approach encourages longer visits that allow for deeper exploration of Muscat’s attractions, from the nearby souq to architectural sites throughout the capital.
For day visitors, the DayLuxe Pass offers pool access with dining options at OMR 25 (AED 250) for adults. The pass includes either breakfast or a three-course lunch at Rawya, providing an entry-level luxury experience for those not staying overnight.
